Dear Deviants,

It kinda dawned on me that I've hit a point where doing this blog is more of a chore than an enjoyment. Being that I believe very strongly in doing things that make you happy, I'm taking a break from it. The holiday season is also approaching so I'm gonna be busy creating.

That being said, my strong opinions and amusement with naughty things are not being abandoned so I will still be bringing you the same kind of content--I will just use Facebook to do so. I hope you choose to continue to hang with me and become a fan. Thanks and have an amazing rest of the year.

The finale of Project Runway aired last night and although I had noticed before that the winner Anya Ayoung-Chee was a cutie pie, being the winner actually made me interested in her background. Of course, things like winning a reality show prompts google searches. And behold, the damn girl is a beauty queen. Not an average run-of-the-mill beauty queen either. She was Miss Trinidad and Tobago and competed in the Miss Universe pageant in 2008. I haven't watched every episode of Project Runway and maybe this little fact was disclosed at some point on the show, but I thought it was interesting. Anyway, she never was portrayed as the sexpot, but after seeing her photos, she most certainly is.

It appears Susan Sarandon has balls. I mean, I'm sure the reference refers to the Pope's Hitler youth past, but celebrities are usually pretty PC when it comes to this kinda stuff. She has ruffled some angelic feathers. Oh, and the picture is just in the spirit of Halloween.

From MSNBC: "Actress and social activist Susan Sarandon was reported to have called Pope Benedict a Nazi during a public discussion at a film festival in New York, provoking criticism from both Catholic and Jewish groups.

The movie star, who won an Oscar for her role in the 1995 anti-death penalty film "Dead Man Walking" actress, said she had sent a copy of the book on which the movie is based to the pope.

"The last one. Not this Nazi one we have now," she was reported as saying by New York newspaper Newsday.

The remark was made on Saturday in an interview about Sarandon's career conducted by fellow actor Bob Balaban that was part of the Hamptons Film Festival.

Newsday said Balaban gently chided Sarandon for the remark but she repeated it.

Sarandon's Hollywood agent did not respond to calls for comment on Monday.

German born Pope Benedict, formerly Joseph Ratzinger, was briefly a member of the Hitler Youth in the early 1940s when membership was compulsory, the Vatican has said. He deserted the military during World War Two and has said that as devout Catholics, his parents rejected Nazi ideology.

Sarandon, 65, who was raised in New York as a Roman Catholic, is known for her support of causes ranging from hunger and AIDS to opposing the U.S.-led war in Iraq. The "Thelma and Louise" star was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1999.

The New York-based Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights called Sarandon's remark "obscene" and said in a Monday statement that her "ignorance is willful."

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL), which fights anti-Semitism, called on Sarandon to apologize to the Catholic Community.

"Ms. Sarandon may have her differences with the Catholic Church, but that is no excuse for throwing around Nazi analogies. Such words are hateful, vindictive and only serve to diminish the true history and meaning of the Holocaust," the ADL said in a statement."

News Spotlight: Justice Questioning

It looks like it really is the end of the line for Troy Davis. After much doubt by many people that he murdered a cop, his last apparent chance to delay the case has been denied. I'm not usually one to get too wrapped up in opinions about innocence vs. guilt, but this one does tug at the conscience a bit. There are not just some factors to suggest he may be innocent, but too many factors. If he is innocent, may he rest in peace. And may the truth eventually come out so our justice system can have yet another example of why it needs to get its shit together.

From CBS News: "ATLANTA - A defense attorney says Georgia prison officials have blocked inmate Troy Davis from taking a polygraph test before his scheduled execution.

Attorney Stephen Marsh told The Associated Press on Wednesday that the Georgia Department of Corrections has denied his request to allow Davis to take a polygraph test. Davis is scheduled to die at 7 p.m. EDT Wednesday.

Davis has long claimed he is innocent of killing Mark MacPhail, an off-duty police officer working as a security guard in Savannah, Ga. But state and federal courts have repeatedly upheld his conviction.

Prosecutors and MacPhail's relatives say they have no doubt the right man is being punished.

Marsh had said he hoped the polygraph test would convince the state pardons board to reconsider a decision against clemency.

On Wednesday, supporters planned vigils outside Georgia's death row prison in Jackson and protests at U.S. embassies in Europe. Davis' attorneys planned another late appeal, this one aimed at blocking the execution by convincing a judge that some of the original evidence was questionable.

After winning three delays since 2007, Davis lost his most realistic chance at last-minute clemency this week when the state pardons board denied his request.

Some witnesses who fingered him at trial as the shooter later recanted, and others who did not testify came forward to say another man did it. But a federal judge dismissed those changed and new accounts as "largely smoke and mirrors" after a hearing Davis was granted last year to argue for a new trial, which he did not win.

Davis didn't want a last meal. He planned to spend his final hours meeting with friends, family and supporters. According to an advocate who met with him late Tuesday, he was upbeat, prayerful and expected last-minute wrangling by attorneys."

Jessica Chastain was a suggestion for "Sexpot of the Week" via Twitter and after looking her up, I was only semi-amused. I thought she was cute and everything, but I wasn't that into it. I heard all the kudos she was getting for her work in The Help, but still was blah. Then I went to see the movie and I was impressed with her. I did become a fan and decided I like her better on-screen than in photos (although the above photos are pretty hot). And then I realized that's exactly what you are supposed to feel about an actress. She's not your typical screen siren dawning the cover of magazine after magazine (not yet anyway), but she is a sexy red-headed thing. She has 8 films that either have been or will be debuted in 2011 and 2012 so she will be around for a bit. I will stay tuned.

From MSNBC: "Mel Gibson and Joe Ezsterhas will collaborate for an untitled drama about Jewish warrior Judah Maccabee, it was first reported late Thursday. Deadline Hollywood broke the news, saying that Gibson "had long wanted to make this film about heroic Jews, and it was discussed even when he was under fire after his drunken anti-Semitic rant during a 2006 Malibu arrest."

A decided departure from other Gibson films like "Lethal Weapon" or "The Passion of the Christ," Gibson will be a producer and direct the film (Eszterhas will write the script), which is being made by Warner Bros.

A certain level of outrage was anticipated when the news broke -- after all, Gibson has hardly been known as a bastion of tolerance and understanding in recent years. Now, Jewish leaders are speaking out about what they feel is hypocrisy in having Gibson involved. Rabbi Marvin Heir, founder and dean of Los Angeles's Simon Wiesenthal Center Museum of Tolerance, told The Hollywood Reporter, "He’s had a long history of antagonism with Jews. Casting him as a director or perhaps as the star of Judah Maccabee is like casting (Bernie) Madoff to be the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, or a white supremacist as trying to portray Martin Luther King Jr. It's simply an insult to Jews."

Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti Defamation League, also issued a statement to The Hollywood Reporter saying, “Judah Maccabee deserves better. He is a hero of the Jewish people and a universal hero in the struggle for religious liberty. It would be a travesty to have his story told by one who has no respect and sensitivity for other people’s religious views."

Maccabee, along with his father and brothers, led the Jewish revolt against the Greek-Syrian armies of the Seleucid Empire during the second century BC. Hanukkah is a celebration of the success of the revolt."

But after adult entertainment company Hustler told Radar Online that it had obtained video of the "Man Down" singer and rapper J. Cole, both artists tweeted denials of the tape's existence.

"We don't believe U, U need more people...AND of course an actual sextape! #slownewsday," Rihanna posted on Wednesday night.

Cole, who opened for Rihanna's Loud tour, also used his Twitter to react to the report, writing early Thursday morning (August 25), "Gossip Gossip, n---a just stop it."

The denials came after a rep for Hustler delivered a statement to Radar, saying, "Hustler [is] in possession of the Rihanna and J. Cole tape. We have seen it and we do not know what we are going to do with it yet.""

Looks like the overdose theory is out the window in Amy Winehouse's death--at least any of the hardhitting ones people automatically assumed were responsible. It seems we'll never know exactly what happened, but this at least should bring a little more respect to her legacy.

From E! Online: "Amy Winehouse had no illegal drugs in her system, but there was alcohol in her bloodstream when she died, her family is revealing.

Toxicology tests done on the British soul singer have come back, but it hasn't been determined yet if the alcohol that was found in her system played any part in her death...

"Toxicology results returned to the Winehouse family by authorities have confirmed that there were no illegal substances in Amy's system at the time of her death," read a statement released today by family spokesman Chris Goodman.

"Results indicate that alcohol was present, but it cannot be determined as yet if it played a role in her death," the statement continues. "The family would like to thank the police and coroner for their continuing thorough investigations and for keeping them informed throughout the process. They await the outcome of the inquest in October.""

I watched "Sucker Punch" on DVD last night and couldn't remember where I had seen Jamie Chung before. Then after Googling her today, I realized I saw her on The Real World. This is the funniest celebrity news I've heard in a long time. How awful do you have to be for a clothing brand to pay your NOT to wear their clothes? Pure comedy.

From Forbes: "Not all celebrity endorsements are good, at least Abercrombie & Fitch doesn’t think so; the apparel retailer is asking Jersey Shore cast member Mike “the Situation“ Sorrentino to stop wearing its clothes.

I'm always impressed with the balls on some people. I'm not sure what art thieves do with these stolen famous artworks, but I'm sure it's more a thrill of the chase kinda thing.

From UPI: "LOS ANGELES, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- The Rembrandt drawing, "The Judgment," was stolen from a luxury hotel in Marina del Rey, Calif., despite top notch security, officials said.

The 11-by-7-inch drawing was valued at more than $250,000 and was taken from the Ritz-Carlton Marina del Rey when the curator was distracted, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Investigators reviewing hotel security video said the heist late Saturday was thought out in advance. The drawing disappeared when someone distracted a curator.

"The hotel has top-quality security," a Los Angeles County sheriff's spokesman said. "We believe this was a well-thought-out and well-planned theft."

Officials said the hotel sometimes offers high-value artwork for sale. The drawing belongs to the Linerais Institute of San Francisco.

Hotel officials declined to comment on the theft, saying only the hotel is cooperating with investigators.

The Dutch master's works are popular targets for art thieves, art experts said, second only to works by Picasso. There have been 81 documented thefts of Rembrandt's works in the past 100 years, said Anthony Amore, co-author of the book "Stealing Rembrandts.""

Last week, I stated that I think Scarlett Johansson is the most beautiful woman in Hollywood. I want to renig on that statement because I actually think Freida Pinto is. She really is stunning. Being that it was her first gig, she hit the acting jackpot with her role in Slumdog Millionaire. Ever since, she has been featured in countless magazines because of her beauty alone. She has only worked on a few movies since Slumdog (probably because she lives in India and Hollywood isn't around the corner), but it seems like the tides are turning. She's starring in the upcoming Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which will no doubt be a blockbuster. And since blockbusters usually lead to more blockbusters, we may get lucky enough to see a lot more of her.

Take a guess what this ad is about. Well it's not about rape, but it certainly is about sex. The inscription reads (in Portuguese) "Girls, protect yourself. Demand your partner to wear a condom." I've never known MTV to be very involved with social issues so I'm not exactly sure why this ad even exists. Either way, it is attention grabbing and makes a clear point about the possible link between death and sex.

Some relationships people just can't wait to fail. Since Kat Von D announced her split from Jesse James last night via Twitter, all the news reporting about it has been ultra sarcastic and unsympathetic. I think it's safe to say James is the most hated person in Hollywood--well maybe after Mel Gibson.

From People: "Jesse James and Kat Von D have called off their engagement and broken up.

 "I'm so sad because I really love her," James tells PEOPLE exclusively. "The distance between us was just too much."

James, 42, and the LA Ink star, 29, were engaged in January and had been planning a summer wedding around the one-year anniversary of when they started dating.

But the commute between Los Angeles, where Von D shoots her reality show, and James's home outside of Austin, Texas, where he lives with his kids, Chandler, 16, Jesse Jr., 14, and Sunny, 7, proved to be too much.

His biggest role after this one was as a human torch in Fantastic Four so if he isn't saving the world, he apparently has little box office appeal. To his credit, a look at his discography reveals he has been at this acting thing since 2000 so he's put in a decade's work to get the role of a lifetime. Since I didn't get a chance to mention the unfortunate death of Amy Winehouse over the weekend, I will say my part now. She was one of my favorite artists and anyone who knows me knows one of the things I talk about most when it comes to music is my longing for her to get it together and bless us with more. I can honestly say I have never been this sad about a musician dying. I think the ultimate culprit of these tragedies is the fact celebrities find themselves surrounded by people who only kiss their asses to keep the freebies coming and that they often reject the people that have their best interests at heart and try to set them straight.

Details of her death are starting to surface and there's a lot of confict--some news sources reporting that no drugs were found in her home, while others saying she bought ecstacy and cocaine the night before and went on a drinking binge. The autopsy will be done today so the truth will surface. Either way, music has lost one of its true gems.

While browsing the news today, I can across an MTV article pointing out that Tyler, the Creator thinks his competition for the VMA's Video of the Year "suck". Those would be Adele's "Rolling in the Deep," Beastie Boys' "Make Some Noise," Bruno Mars' "Grenade" and Katy Perry's "Firework." Well, actually he approves of Adele. Anyway, I was amused that someone was actually honest about how they feel about their rivals because artists usually spew that "I'm honored to be nominated with..." crap. Then I watched the video. And I was even a bit more amused and decided I should research him. This video is pretty representative of what he's about-sin, murder, and angst. The only part not apparent is that he also happens to rap a lot about raping women-a whole lot. Because of that, there's no way I'll ever be a "fan". As much as I love filthy, his lyrics are even too much for me. But I do respect the fact he's offering a new approach to hip-hop.

Just in case you aren't aware, this isn't the way you spell "reckless." Not a very obvious spelling mistake, but it's very unfortunate to have a grammatical error tattooed in huge letters across your back. The fact no one seemed to catch this before it was plastered is a good indication he will go through life without many people pointing it out.
